Why Former Steel Owners Choose Aluminum the Second time around!

Historically, the three primary reasons that consumers buy Aluminum Trailers are beauty durability and weight. Today, those reasons still exist. Aluminum has a beautiful color tone that looks finished and expensive. Unlike steel, aluminum doesn't rust and can last for a lifetime. Finally, aluminum is light yet strong compared to steel. Years ago that translated into a trailer that you wouldn't break your back hooking it up and that can be hauled by any standard pickup. Today, there's another important component. Fuel. Steel trailers cost a small fortune to haul simply because they're heavy.

If you've ever owned a steel trailer, you know that you pay for your trailer at the dealership and then you pay every time you stop at the pumps. Hauling an aluminum trailer isn't free - but it's much less expensive than hauling a steel trailer.

Finally, a big upside to lower weight aluminum is a potentially higher payload. Since you calculate the payload as the axle rating plus a small amount of tongue weight - less the weight of the trailer, a heavy steel trailer leaves you unable to haul as much payload.

Bottom line: Aluminum's high strength to weight ratio makes it ideal for trailers. Pound for pound, it's in the range of 2 to 2.5 times stronger than steel.

So save your back - Save lots of fuel dollars - Haul more payload and Spend your weekends playing - not sanding and painting that rusted steel trailer. Go first class. Go aluminum.
